Opening Eyes to New Opportunities
The Trinidad and Tobago Film Company Limited (TTFC) and Youth Training and Employment Partnership Programme Limited (YTEPP) held the third in its series of film seminars on Saturday 19th July 2008 at the VIP Room of the Hasely Crawford Stadium in Port of Spain. Participants were exposed to the vibrant and rewarding world of filmmaking with presentations from Francis Escayg, internationally acclaimed music producer and producer of the film ‘Ghost of Hing King Estate” and Roger Alexis co-producer of the short film “Herman’s Tales”.
Fifty participants attended the Seminar and were shown locally-produced films and encouraged to ask question of the film-makers. TTFC representatives outlined the opportunities for training and the potential of the local film industry.
The Workshop is part of the TTFC’s goal to develop the local film and television industry in Trinidad and Tobago and provide a platform for T&T youth to learn of the opportunities and become involved.

Participants were impressed with the Seminar and noted that more should be done to help inspire youth who lack vision in their lives.

The experience could be summed up in the words of one participant who stated “I enjoyed coming and experiencing a whole different environment which opened my eyes to these new opportunities”

The Film Seminars will continue across the country as part of the TTFC/ YTEPP commitment to provide new career opportunities for youth of Trinidad and Tobago.
