“T&T FILM NIGHTS” IN MAYARO
The Trinidad and Tobago Film Company in collaboration with Mayaro/Rio Claro Regional Corporation and First Citizens is pleased to invite the general public to its s“Film Nights – Cinema Showcase” scheduled on Saturday 29 May 2010 at the Mayaro Youth Facility, Plaissance Road, Mayaro.
The T&T Film Nights – Cinema Showcase Mayaro event was previously scheduled for the Mayaro Basketball court. However, due to the rainy weather conditions across the island, the event has been moved indoors, for the safety and comfort of all attendees. The Mayaro Youth Facility is a newly constructed facility with all the amenities for a perfect cinema lime. The building is fully air-conditioned with auditorium-styled seating and all other amenities necessary for a relaxed and entertaining event.
The Mayaro Film Nights will feature films for the entire family including the much loved animated shorts The Vegetarian Super Machine, produced by Camille Selvon Abrahams; Vendor Rivalry produced by Ansar Sattar and a brand new release from the same producer, Palance – De Animated Tribute featuring cartoon versions of popular Soca Stars and 2010 Road March winners ‘JW’ & ‘Blaze’. Other films include YES- Caribbean Youth Explorers – Nariva by Lorraine O’Connor and two short films from winners of the 2009 Secondary Schools Short Film Festival: Don’t Call Me Jigger by students from Rio Claro East Secondary, and Curepe Drumstick Robbery by students of St. Joseph’s Convent, St. Joseph. To round off the evening, Herman’s Tales – Mandy by Roger Alexis and Kirk Budhooram will be featured.
Doors at the Mayaro Film Nights event will be open from 6:00 p.m. and the admission is free of charge to the public!
DVDs of local films will also be on sale at this event at $100 each. Titles on sale will include Soca Power, directed by Claude Santiago featuring Soca Stars, Machel Montano, Faye Ann Lyons-Alvarez, Isaac Blackman and Bunji Garlin, Calypso Dreams produced by Geoffrey Dunn featuring, Lord Superior, The Mighty Sparrow, Calypso Rose and many others.
The T&T Film Nights – Cinema Showcase project falls under the mandate of the Trinidad and Tobago Film Company to make local content more accessible to communities and to share the entertainment value of films made in Trinidad and Tobago.
