BRINGING LOCAL FILMS “ HOME”

Encouraged by the national response to the annual Trinidad and Tobago Film Festival and riding on the success of its inaugural T&T Film Night – Film Showcase held under the stars in Belmont Park on February 27th, the Trinidad and Tobago Film Company (TTFC) will launch the second Television Film Festival (TVFF) on Saturday 13th March 2010 to run for three weekends until 27 March 2010.

The purpose of the TV Film Festival is to bring local films into our homes and provide the opportunity for a wider audience to enjoy a variety of films made by T&T nationals resident at home and in the diaspora. The films celebrate of Trinidad and Tobago’s culture and speak to issues that are relevant to the country.

The TTFC has partnered with CNC3, TV6, CNMG and Gayelle the Channel for the 2010 Television Film Festival bringing local films, documentaries and animated shorts to television screens across Trinidad and Tobago. The Stations have generously provided free airtime during prime time over the next five weekend nights in March. Films from Trinidad and Tobago producers including Christopher Laird, Mariel Brown, Ryan Khan, Patricia Mohammed, Oliver Milne, Ansar Sattar, Sarah Beckett, Frances Ann Solomon, G Anthony Joseph as well as from other film-makers will be shown.

“This year, the Film Festival promises to be even more exciting with the participating Stations CNC 3, TV6, CNMG and Gayelle showing films that will be made exclusive to them. Viewers will have many exciting films to choose from. The Stations have supported the 2010 Festival and hopefully this partnership will continue into the future”, noted Carla Foderingham, CEO of the Trinidad and Tobago Film Company.
