The TTFC at AFM: "The
first time was fabulous"
The TTFC makes a
great first impression
with filmmakers
during its inaugural
showing at AFM.
AFM is described as the
largest motion picture
trade event and the only
one in North America
that attracts more than
8,000 industry leaders
and decision makers.
This forum was ideal for
the film company to
promote Trinidad and
Tobago as an ideal
location for a film
project. Besides the
visual movie reel which
displayed our beautiful
landscapes and
ethnically diverse
people and cultures, the
main attraction was the
30% cash rebate. While
most film commissions are
offering tax credit programs the TTFC
has broadened its appeal
by laying out a cash back incentive
program that is easy to
understand. Filmmakers and
industry professionals flocked
to see what the TTFC had up its
sleeve. What they found was an
aggressive and tangible cash
rebate program of up to $600,000
cash back on production
expenditures. Trinidad and
Tobago is ranked in the first 10
for offering such incentive.
During our seven (7) days at the
AFM, we were visited by Allison
Saunders-Franklyn, writer,
director and filmmaker of “Hit
for Six” which was recently
screened at Movietowne; G.
Anthony Joseph, producer of
“Branded” recently renamed as
“Contract Killers”.
