The “T&T Film Nights – WE Movie Lime” is a community outreach event envisioned by the Trinidad & Tobago Film Company (TTFC) to expand the reach of locally made films and films shot on location in Trinidad and Tobago. It was launched in February 2010 at the Norfolk St. Park in Belmont and celebrated its 1st Anniversary on Saturday 19th February with a return visit to Belmont.

Over the last year, (12) communities throughout Trinidad and Tobago have been visited - from Toco to Point Fortin - through collaboration with community partners such as Mayors, regional corporation C.E.O.s, community councillors and also non-governmental interest groups and community groups.

The level of involvement of each community partner will vary from community to community with some strategic links proposed to go beyond just one film screening event to incorporate week-long activities specific to film.

Each T&T Film Nights will comprise a screening of local animations, short and feature films and documentaries. The Trinidad & Tobago Film Festival (TTFF) has agreed to expand its partnership with TTFC and sponsor films which form part of its catalogue. Today, the project has been expanded to include a local live entertainment compenent which is provided by TTFC's sister company - T&T Entertainment Compant Ltd. (TTEnt).

Sponsors were invited to collaborate with the Trinidad & Tobago Film Company to offset certain costs and First Citizens Bank has been a major cash sponsor on this venture. Another major sponsor has been Atlantic LNG who has fully funded the Film Nights event hosted in Point Fortin. Additional sponsors are always welcome to join the effort to make community film a recurring event in each region and borough and will be allowed branding opportunities within each event.

Funds received from sponsors will off-set any cost of infrastructure not being covered or donated by the Mayors and Regional Corporations. Film makers receive set ranges of payment based on the length of the films to be screened. In most cases, a sponsor is approached to cover the cost of admission, so that members of the community can enjoy the viewing of films at no direct cost.

In this way, the project has been able to reach and offer 100% high quality local entertianment to over (500) citizens. To request or support a Film Nights in your community, email TTFC at info@trinidadandtobagofilm.com [place 'Film Nights' in the Subject line].
